ABOUT EMPRESS FLAVOUR

Empress Mahelia

This Empress has been listening to reggae since day one. Her mother and brother are major reggae fanatics and their love for the genre has really rubbed off on Mahelia.
Her passion for reggae grew even bigger after she visited her first Buju Banton concert.
In the year 2000 she landed herself a job at Radio Mart. And in 2004 she met Esmeralda (Esje).
Empress Esje

Esmeralda is the Antillean flavour in the Empress Flavour-two.
Even though she comes from a very musical family, reggae wasn’t really the music
she was brought up with.
As she grew older, the love and passion for reggae developed and has only been growing ever since.
The first reggae concert she visited was a Junior Kelly concert and she has hardly missed any concerts ever since!
In 2004 she met Mahelia and in a whim they came up with an idea for a radio-program. They joined hands and in August 2005 they were in the studio and launched their own radio-program called: Empress Flavour.
In 2006 Mahelia aka “Empress Mahelia” and Esmeralda aka “Empress Esje” had everything going for them.
They had a radio program, a well-visited website and a (very successful) annual Bustour to the Summerjam Festival in Germany.
